I used to think hair masks were a waste of money until I tried one on a damaged perm last May
I had this client come in with fried hair from a box dye gone wrong and I was ready to recommend a trim. She begged me to try a deep conditioning mask from a brand I never use, Olaplex, and I was skeptical because I figured it was hype. After two treatments over 3 weeks her hair went from straw to actual silk, I could run my fingers through it without snagging. Has anyone else had a product they dismissed that totally proved them wrong?

What brand was it exactly, the one that fixed the box dye mess?

You know, I went through the same thing a couple years back with a bad box dye job, @sarah818. The one that actually lifted that mess for me was Color Oops, the extra strength version. Just make sure you follow the instructions to the letter and give your hair a good deep condition after.

Color Oops really is the unsung hero of bad hair decisions, isn't it? I swear half my hair's history is thanks to that stuff undoing my impulsive dye jobs from late night Amazon orders. Just brace yourself for the smell though, it's like rotten eggs and sulfur had a baby in your shower. And yeah, deep condition is not a suggestion, it's a survival tactic for your poor strands after that chemical wrestling match. Your hair will forgive you eventually, but it might hold a grudge for a few days!
