Just had a client at my station in Phoenix ask for a 'basic trim' and then show me a picture of a completely different haircut
Tbh, this lady, Sarah, sat down and said she just wanted an inch off. I confirmed it, sectioned her hair, and started. Halfway through she pulls out her phone and shows me a photo of a choppy, layered lob and says 'Actually, I want it to look like this.' It was a totally different style and length. I had to stop, re-wet her hair, and start over, which threw my whole schedule off for the afternoon. Has anyone else had a client do a complete 180 like that mid-service?

Did you charge her for the extra time?

Wait, you mean there are people who actually charge for going a little over? Like if you're helping someone and it runs five minutes long, you send an invoice? That feels so cold. I'd be worried they'd never call me again.

Man, that's rough. I had a guy last week change his mind on shingle color after we'd already loaded half the roof. @the_faith is right to ask about charging, but I'd probably just eat the cost and grumble about it later.
