My client walked in with a home haircut that looked like a crime scene

She used kitchen scissors and took off 4 inches from one side. I spent an hour and a half just trying to even it out. How do you guys handle the damage control on these without making the client feel worse?

I saw a stylist say they call it a "creative reset" instead of a fix.

Wow, really @val_williams? "Creative reset" instead of a fix? That feels like the kind of thing you'd say to make a bad haircut sound like a trendy life choice!

Haha "creative reset" sounds like something you'd say after accidentally shaving off an eyebrow. Honestly if someone comes in with a kitchen scissors crime scene, the only reset happening is their haircut and their dignity at the same time. I think the real move is to just be REAL with them like "okay so we're gonna have to get creative with this one" and then work some magic. Making them feel bad is a waste of energy because they already know what they did. Just fix it fast, don't make a big deal about how bad it was, and charge them the same as a normal cut. They already paid the idiot tax when they let the kitchen shears win.
