My foiling brush was the problem, not my hands

I kept messing up balayage sections for like 6 months, they were always too thick or uneven. Then I realized my brush had bent bristles from shoving it in my kit bag every night. I grabbed one of those cheap plastic tint brushes from the supply store in Columbus, the ones we use for root touch ups, and tried it on my next client. Same technique, same product, but the sections came out way cleaner and more consistent. Also I started wiping it down with alcohol between each foil instead of leaving it sitting there. That little switch saved me maybe 20 minutes per appointment and way less redoing. Anyone else ever had a tool fail on them without noticing until they swapped it out?

Thats funny you say that because for the longest time I figured my brush was fine and blamed my hands too. Swapped to a new one after reading this and honestly my sections are way more even, especially near the crown where I tend to rush. Also the alcohol wipe trick is gold, I used to just leave product buildup on mine and wonder why foils slipped around. Now I check my tools every few weeks, feels dumb it took me this long to figure out.
