Rant: I had to choose between a quick fix or a full color correction on a client's hair

This lady came in last Tuesday with box dye that went super orange. I could have just slapped a dark brown on it to cover it up fast, or do a full color removal and start fresh. I picked the full correction, even though it meant booking her for a 4 hour slot. We used a color remover, then a toner, and finished with a level 6N demi. It turned out amazing, but my schedule was wrecked for the rest of the day. Has anyone else had to make that call and how do you price the extra time?

That 4 hour slot is a huge commitment. When you say your schedule was wrecked, did you have to bump other clients or just work through lunch? How do you even start to price for that kind of time block versus a standard color?

Honestly, that kind of time block would wreck my whole day too. Tbh, bumping other clients feels awful, but working through lunch just makes you tired and behind. Pricing has to cover the lost income from those smaller slots you could have filled. Ngl, I'd probably charge way more than just double a standard color to make it worth the schedule chaos.

Four hours is a massive chunk of the workday. When you price it way above double, are you calculating it based on your hourly rate plus the lost income from the smaller jobs you turned away? I'm curious what that final number actually looks like on an invoice.
