Stopped by a salon in Nashville yesterday and nobody was wearing gloves for color
I walked into this busy salon on 2nd Avenue and watched three stylists do full foils and balayage with bare hands. Is that just accepted in some places or am I right to be grossed out by the chemical exposure?

That bare-handed balayage is giving me flashbacks to my DIY box dye disaster in college (let's just say I looked like a distressed zebra for a solid month). I feel like the chemical exposure part is legit concerning - I've seen enough horror stories about stylists developing contact dermatitis or worse from repeated exposure. Maybe some salons think it's faster without gloves, but it's like playing chemical roulette with your skin (and hair, honestly).

That distressed zebra comparison is too real, pretty sure I've seen that exact look on a few clients walking out of other salons. The contact dermatitis thing is no joke either, I've known a few stylists who had to switch careers entirely because their hands just couldn't handle the chemicals anymore. It's wild that some places still skip gloves just to save a few seconds when the long term risk is messing with your health permanently.

@wells.olivia reminds me of that time I saw a stylist sneeze and their gloves flew off into a bowl of bleach lol
