That client who wants 'something different' but shoots down every idea

Last month I had this woman come in, said she was bored with her same old highlights and wanted a big change. I brought out three different color swatches and show her what we could do, from a shadow root to full balayage to some face-framing pieces. She kept saying 'no, not that' and 'I don't know, you're the expert' but wouldn't give me any direction either. After 45 minutes of going back and forth, she settled on a rooted blonde that was basically what she already had. She left happy enough but I felt like I wasted my whole afternoon and she tipped me $5 on a $180 service. Has anyone else dealt with clients like this where they say they want change but really just want reassurance they look fine as is? I swear it happens to me at least once a month now and I never know how to steer them without sounding pushy.
