Used to think setting spray was a scam, now I get it

For years I did makeup without any setting spray. Just powder and hope. Then I helped a bride get ready for her wedding in July and she swore by this Urban Decay stuff. She was sweating like crazy but her makeup didn't budge. Bought a bottle the next day and used it on a client who works a 12 hour retail shift. She came back the next week and said her foundation lasted through her whole shift. That's what changed my mind. Anyone else have a product they were skeptical about until a client proved them wrong?

Wait, did the bride actually use it or did you apply it for her? I'm asking because application technique makes a huge difference with setting spray. The way you hold the bottle matters, the distance, even the pattern you spray in. If you just mist it on like air freshener it's basically worthless. Also curious if you tried the cheaper drugstore options before dropping money on Urban Decay. Cause I've been burned too many times by expensive sprays that dried down crusty or broke up my concealer.

I read somewhere that holding it 8-10 inches away is the sweet spot for even coverage.

@harperg76 yeah ive noticed this whole thing is like making coffee where you gotta dial in the grind size and brew time for your setup. 8-10 inches feels about right for my hand but some people probably hold it way too far out and wonder why their makeup is still wet. its like people either overcomplicate it or dont care at all no in between.
