Why does nobody talk about how bad salon chairs are for your back?

I spent 8 hours at a busy salon last week and my lower back was killing me by hour 5. The chair at my station just doesn't have enough lumbar support. Has anyone found a good cushion or trick that actually helps?

Ever tried one of those mesh lumbar pillows? Killed the ache for me.

That's actually not a lumbar pillow, that's a mesh lumbar support cushion. Different thing. The mesh ones are good for airflow in summer though.

Oh man, I'm gonna push back on that. Mesh lumbar pillows are way overhyped in my opinion (sorry @thompson.reese). They let all the air through but they barely give any real support where you actually need it, you know? I tried one a few years back and it just felt like sitting against a piece of stiff netting, didn't do a thing for my lower back. For me, a solid foam cushion is way better even if it gets a little warm in the summer, at least it actually holds you in place. Mesh just kind of collapses under any real pressure, at least that's been my experience.
