Built a fort after a rough week and now I want to make it permanent
Last Tuesday my boss pushed a deadline up by two days and my dog got sick, so by Friday night I was done. I grabbed every blanket in the house, about 8 of them, and built a fort between the couch and the coffee table in my living room in Portland. I used two dining chairs as the main posts and clipped a sheet to the curtain rod with binder clips so it did not sag in the middle. I put my reading lamp inside with a paperback and a mug of tea and sat in there for 3 hours without checking my phone once. My knees hurt the next morning but I slept better than I had all week. Does anyone have a trick for a floor pad that does not slide around on hardwood?
Sounds like you just needed a break and some sleep, not a life change. A fort is fun for one night but your knees hurt the next day, which tells you the floor is not where you want to be long term. I did the same thing in college with couch cushions and a sheet, lasted two nights and I missed my bed. A rug pad under a cheap rug fixes the sliding, but that is a small fix for a small problem. Go get a real mattress topper and sleep in your bed, you will thank yourself.
