My ceiling fan stole my fort on Saturday night
Building a reading nest in my living room in Austin, and I hooked a sheet to the fan to make a peak roof. About 20 minutes in, I bumped the pull chain and the blades spun slow, wrapping the whole thing around the motor. Sheets tangled, books flew, and my cat dove out like it was a horror movie. I ended up using two clamps and a ladder to rig a crossbar between my couch and bookshelf instead. Has anyone else had a fort collapse from something dumb like a fan or a vent? What's your backup anchor trick?

My cat did the same thing when a blanket fort collapsed on him once, he just sat there giving me this look like I planned the whole disaster. The clamps and ladder idea is smart though, I ended up using binder clips and a tension rod from my shower curtain after my second fort bit it. Those cheap command hooks on the wall can also hold a sheet corner if you line them up right, just make sure the ceiling fan is off first. Forts are basically adult engineering projects with worse stakes, apparently.
