My weighted blanket was a dust trap for 2 weeks before I cleaned it
I kept waking up sneezy and blamed the cat, but turns out the blanket's filling was holding all the dust. Anyone else washing theirs monthly or am I just gross?

Monthly is about right if you're a heavier sleeper or have pets. Even then, the outer cover traps a lot, but the filling gets nasty faster than people expect.

Oh man, I had a friend who went through this exact thing! She blamed her allergies on the new apartment for a month before she realized her weighted blanket was the culprit, and yeah, @uma_ellis is totally right about the filling going bad fast once you start digging into it. She ended up washing it twice a month after that and her sneezing finally stopped.
