Sofa cushions or dining chairs: which one actually makes a fort worth sitting in for 3 hours?
So here's my thing. For 2 winters I built my forts on the couch cushions. Comfy, sure. But last Saturday I swapped in the dining chairs instead and it changed my whole setup. The chairs gave me taller walls and I could stretch my legs out flat for the first time. My back stopped hurting an hour in.
But my partner says I'm wrong and the sofa cushions win because they're softer and you can sink into them while reading. She has a point.
So which side are you on? Rigid chair frame with a blanket roof, or full cushion nest? Tell me what you build with and why, I need to settle this before next weekend.
Swapped to chairs last year after reading a post about back pain from floor forts and never went back. The rigid frame keeps the blanket roof from sagging onto your head all night. Cushions feel nice for ten minutes then your lower back starts yelling. Chairs let you put a real pillow behind you and sit upright like a person. Build the base with chairs and toss one cushion on the floor for your feet. That way your partner gets her soft spot and you get a fort that holds up past hour one.
