Hit the 1,000 cup mark with my French press, here's what 18 months taught me

Last Sunday I brewed my 1,000th cup in the same old French press I bought for $28 at a garage sale. I keep a tally on the chalkboard in my kitchen because my brother bet me I'd replace it within a year, and I'm stubborn. Along the way I learned the sweet spot is 4 minutes steeping, not the 3 on the box, and that cheap pre-ground stuff clogs the mesh way faster. Anyone else track their brew count or am I just weird about keeping a beat-up press alive?
