Rant: My $12 bag of Ethiopian beans went stale in 4 days because I left them in the hopper

I ground 30 grams every morning and watched the flavor turn flat and papery by day four, so now I keep the bag sealed in the cabinet and only pour out what I need for that pull, has anyone else wrecked a whole bag this way?
