Switched my water temp from 205 to 195 and the same beans taste totally different now
Two months ago I was brewing the same bag of medium roast every morning at 205 degrees and getting this bitter, dry aftertaste that I just figured was the beans. Then I read a comment somewhere that said to drop it to 195 for medium roasts, so I tried it and within about 4 days the cups went from harsh to sweet and smooth. Same grinder, same ratio, same 3 minute pour. Now I'm stuck because half the folks I talk to say hotter water always pulls more flavor and the other half say cooler water keeps it from burning. Which side are you on, and did you actually test it side by side or just go with what you heard?
