TIL that a cheap french press makes way better cold brew than my fancy drip machine
I spent months trying to get smooth cold brew from my $80 Cuisinart drip maker and it always came out bitter. Last week I grabbed a $15 french press from Target and used coarse grounds with a 12 hour steep in the fridge. The difference in clarity and taste was insane, no sediment or harsh bite at all. Anyone else find that simpler tools beat the expensive stuff for cold brew?

@price.gavin nailed it - fancy gear just heats water, but that cheap press does the real work.

Right, because apparently you need a spaceship console to make coffee but a glorified plunger tube gets it perfect. Guess my Cuisinart is just an expensive water heater now.

Man, that's a solid take right there. I never really thought about it that way but you're totally right. My old drip machine does the same job as my buddy's fancy espresso setup, just slower. It's kind of funny how we all buy into the hype with those pricey machines.
