Unpopular opinion: French press beats pour over for lazy mornings

I used to swear by my pour over setup, spending 5 minutes slowly dripping water over grounds. But last weekend I was running late and grabbed my old French press instead, just threw in 30g of coarse grounds and poured hot water. The coffee was actually richer and less bitter than my pour over, and it took half the time. Anyone else find their preferred method depends more on the day than the bean?

Yeah, who has time for a whole production on a rushed morning?

Get you completely. Mornings are about getting out the door, not a coffee ritual. French press wins on days when every minute counts.

Right there with you @the_william, the phrase "every minute counts" is exactly why I actually switched to instant coffee for those days. Not the cheap stuff, but those single-serve packets of good quality instant that dissolve in cold water. Takes me maybe thirty seconds to make a decent cup without even turning on the kettle.
