Vent: My french press shattered mid brew and I lost a $25 bag of beans
I was pressing down and the glass just exploded everywhere, sending coffee grounds across my whole kitchen in Portland. I switched to a stainless steel one after that disaster, but does anyone else think metal carafes change the taste compared to glass?

Metal filters let more oils through. Better flavor, honestly.

Yeah, I read something about how the oils carry more of the coffee's natural flavors. Totally agree with you @wendyg43, metal filters give a much better taste!

Totally feel you on this one. Took me years to switch from paper filters and honestly, I wish I had done it sooner. That first cup with a metal filter was like, oh wait, this is what coffee is supposed to taste like. The oils really do make a difference, especially with a darker roast where you get that nice, rich mouthfeel. Paper filters just strip away too much of the good stuff, in my experience.
