Found a $5 thrift store desk lamp that fixed my eye strain issues

I was getting headaches after 3 hours of studying at my desk, so I tried everything from blue light glasses to dimming my monitor. Last week I picked up an old banker's lamp with a green shade at a Salvation Army in Portland, and angling it so the light bounces off the wall behind my screen made all the difference. Has anyone else had luck with indirect lighting over direct desk lamps?

Oh yeah, I read somewhere that indirect light is way easier on the eyes!

Wait, you found a working banker's lamp at a thrift store? Those things are never there.

Portland here too. I was a direct light snob before, but my eyes couldn't take it anymore. This post made me try bouncing light off my ceiling instead and it's a game changer.
