I finally picked a standing desk over a regular one after 10 years of sitting

For years I just used a hand-me-down desk from my aunt, but last month I got sick of my lower back hurting by 2pm. I was torn between a fancy electric standing desk and a simple crank model from IKEA. Went with the crank model, cost me $200, and honestly I only stand about an hour a day but that hour makes a huge difference. Anyone else find they don't use the standing feature as much as they thought they would?

For years I thought standing desks were just a gimmick, but my wife finally convinced me to try one last spring. I only stand maybe 45 minutes a day but that's 45 minutes my back isn't killing me, you know? Still though, I bet a lot of people buy them thinking they'll stand all day and it just doesn't work out that way.

Got a cheap little stool from a garage sale to put under my standing desk last summer. I rest one foot on it when standing, kinda shifts my posture and takes the pressure off my lower back. That 45 minutes turned into an hour for me once I figured out that trick. Not saying it's a miracle fix, but little adjustments like that can make a big difference without going full superman on the standing desk thing.

Well @adam_patel, I got one last year and now my cat thinks it's her personal observation deck.
