My monitor arm gave out at 3 AM and took my mug with it

Was pulling a late night finishing up some online classes last Tuesday when the gas spring on my Vivo arm just gave up. It dropped my 27-inch monitor right onto my favorite ceramic mug, which was full of tea. Shattered the mug and cracked the desk surface in two places. Has anyone else had a gas spring fail like that on them? I'm looking for something more reliable under $100.

Man that sucks hard. My cheap knockoff arm did the exact same thing last year right at like 2 AM while I was half asleep watching YouTube. Spewed hot coffee all over my desk and my keyboard still has sticky keys from it. Honestly for under a hundred bucks most of those gas spring arms are a gamble. The Vivo ones are okay but they seem to fail after a year or two if you move them around a lot. I ended up going with a North Bayou arm off Amazon for like 65 bucks and its held up way better so far. Fingers crossed yours gets sorted without too much more desk damage.
