Saw a guy in the Chicago O'Hare airport build a whole desk out of a cardboard box and I still think about it
Two months ago I was stuck on a 4 hour layover at O'Hare and this guy next to me pulled out a flattened cardboard box, folded it into a little stand, and set his laptop on it like it was no big deal. He told me he does it on every work trip because hotel desks wreck his neck and he refuses to work from the bed. I laughed at first but then I watched him type for 90 minutes with his shoulders down and his screen at eye level, and honestly he looked more comfy than I do at my $200 setup at home. Now I'm torn, because part of me thinks a real cozy desk needs a solid wood top and a proper lamp and a plant, and part of me thinks this guy cracked the code and we're all just buying stuff we don't need. My setup at home has a monitor riser, a felt mat, and a $40 mug warmer my sister got me, and I still slouch by 2pm every day. So which is it, does a cozy desk come from the stuff on it or from how your body sits at it? Anyone here ever ditched their whole setup after seeing someone do it simpler?
