Shoutout to the local library reading nook I found last Tuesday

I was in downtown Austin killing time between appointments and ducked into the main library branch. They have this corner facing the creek with old wooden chairs and zero wifi signal. Why don't more public spaces get how important that is for focus?

I used to be one of those people who thought "why would you go somewhere without wifi?" But that corner with zero signal actually changed my mind. Last month I spent three hours there with a physical book and my phone was basically a brick. It was weird at first not checking notifications every five minutes but I got way more reading done than I do at home. Plus the creek view is nice, you can hear water moving and birds doing their thing. Kinda makes me want to find more dead zones around town now.

Hit those truck stops in the boonies, same peace with a book and a thermos.
