That cable tray my coworker swore by drove me nuts for 6 weeks
Last month my office buddy kept pushing this under-desk cable tray he bought for $18 on Amazon. Said it would clear my foot space and make everything feel less chaotic. I finally caved and screwed it in, and honestly it made things worse. The tray sagged with my power strip and two chargers, plus it rattled every time I moved my legs. I yanked it off after six weeks and went back to a simple zip-tie rail along the back edge. Now my cords are out of the way and I can actually stretch my knees. Has anyone else found those metal trays useless, or did I just get a bad batch?

Ngl, those metal mesh trays are a gamble. The cheap ones flex like wet cardboard under any real weight, and the whole point is to get stuff off your floor, not create a new rattle source. Sounds like you got the same flimsy model I did, the screw holes strip out after a month too. Honestly, the zip-tie rail approach is way more solid because it distributes weight along the entire back edge instead of hanging from two points. Real talk, if you ever try a tray again, look for one that's solid steel with a center support bar, not the mesh stuff. But honestly, you already found the fix that works, so stick with it.
