The whole monitor riser debate - are they actually worth it or just clutter?
I used to think monitor risers were a waste of space, like another thing to dust and push your screen way too high. But then I got a new desk that's pretty deep, and my neck was killing me after a week of hunching forward to see the bottom of the screen. So I grabbed a cheap wooden riser from a garage sale for 5 bucks, just to test the theory. Honestly, it fixed my posture issue and I can actually see the whole screen without tilting my head down. On the other hand, my friend swears they just create a dead zone underneath where cables get tangled and dust bunnies gather. Has anyone else gone back and forth on this? What's the tipping point that made you commit to using one or ditching it?

That talk about "dead zone underneath" is exactly why I just stack books under mine instead.

Think people overthink this whole dead zone thing a bit. A mat or even a couple of cheap risers from the hardware store solve that just as well as piling up books. Unless your monitor is a solid block of concrete, it's not gonna suffocate under a few inches of air.
