Just realized I've been buying way too many spice blends
I used to grab those little pre-mixed jars for every recipe, like taco seasoning or garam masala, costing me around $4 each time. Then last month I started mixing my own from the spices I already had in the cabinet and honestly it tastes fresher and saves me a trip to the store. Has anyone else ditched the pre-made packs for a simple DIY blend?

Oh man, I feel you on this! I was the exact same way with my chili seasoning packets. $4 each for something I could just mix up from cumin, paprika, and garlic powder I already owned. It's wild how much money we burn through on those little jars when the homemade version tastes way better and doesn't have all that extra salt or cornstarch in it. I made a big batch of my own taco blend last week and now I'm never going back to store bought.

Used to swear by the store brands, but after trying this I'm totally converted too.

Read some article last week about how store brands use more fillers and stabilizers to cut costs. Stuff like maltodextrin and silicon dioxide. It's basically just cornstarch and salt with a hint of spice. Making your own blend costs like 20 cents per batch and you control what goes in.
