My sister called me out for being a spice snob and now I'm all about pantry mixes

Last week my sister came over to help me meal prep and she saw my cabinet full of single spice jars. She laughed and asked why I don't just use the pre-mixed taco seasoning from the store. I told her I like controlling the salt and heat level but she pointed out I spend like $5 each on cumin and smoked paprika when I could just buy one $2 packet. She had a point honestly. So I tested her idea and threw together a quick burrito bowl using a store brand fajita mix and added a little extra chili powder to make it spicier. It turned out pretty good and saved me like 15 minutes of measuring. Has anyone else found a pre-made blend that actually works better than your own mix?

Hang on, I gotta call you out on the cumin price thing. Cumin is usually way cheaper than $5 a jar unless you're buying some fancy artisanal brand. I pay like two bucks for a decent sized bottle at the regular grocery store. But your bigger mistake is saying those mix packets save you time measuring. They don't. You still have to add extra chili powder, which means you're still measuring. You just swapped one measuring step for another. Honestly, if you already own the spices, making your own fajita blend is like 30 seconds and you get zero weird additives.

My buddy tried that and ended up with a packet that had like twice the salt he expected and ruined his whole chili.
