PSA: My neighbor told me to stop using butter in everything and try applesauce instead.

She showed me how it swaps 1:1 in muffins and banana bread. Has anyone else tried this trick for cutting fat without ruining the texture?

Yeah nah, applesauce just makes my banana bread taste like sadness.

Oh come on, sadness is a bit dramatic for applesauce. I've used it in banana bread when I was out of oil and nobody could tell the difference. Maybe you just needed to add a little more sugar or spice to balance it out. It's really not that bad, I promise.

Oh, @milacraig, you made me snort my coffee! I'm the kind of baker where my banana bread already tastes like sadness, so applesauce might actually be an upgrade for me.
