Why do people keep dumping a full can of tomatoes into chili without draining them?
I watched three friends do this at a cookout in Austin back in October and all three pots came out soupy. The liquid in the can is mostly water and seeds, so draining it gives you a thicker pot and lets you add back just what you want. I keep the juice in a jar in the fridge for rice or soup later, it's basically free stock. Am I wrong to think this is the biggest small fix in the pantry?
