I used to plant my crops in Stardew Valley in haphazard rows and waste half the season running around

Switched to a 3x3 grid with quality sprinklers after year 2 and now I can water everything in 10 seconds flat, then spend the rest of the day fishing. Has anyone else found a layout that saves more time than they expected?

Man, I gotta disagree with you there. I tried the 3x3 sprinkler grid and it felt boring and robotic, like I was just playing a spreadsheet instead of a farm. I actually prefer my chaotic rows because it forces me to plan my routes and makes each day feel different. Plus, when you spend all that time running around, you discover hidden forage items or get random events with villagers that you'd miss if you just teleported from sprinkler to fishing spot.

And you never miss your old watering can on those rainy days?

Same here. There's something about that chaotic layout that makes the game feel alive. I remember one time I had to run all the way across the farm to grab a tool I forgot, and right in the middle of my trip I got a cutscene with Linus that I would have missed completely if I had everything organized and automated. Makes you wonder what else you miss when you optimize all the fun out of it.
