TIL I was overwatering my crops in Stardew Valley for 100 hours

A random comment on a forum said sprinklers are a waste if you still water manually. Thought they were wrong. Tried just using basic sprinklers and ignoring my watering can for a whole season. Suddenly had energy for mining and fishing every day. Game changer. Anyone else have a cozy game habit they refused to drop until someone called them out?

val_williams said routine is fine but do you ever actually miss fishing or mining time from watering?

Sprinklers are fine but acting like not using them is some huge mistake seems overblown. You save a bit of energy in the morning sure but watering manually is barely any time lost. Plus early game you don't even have the resources for good sprinklers. I'd rather save my ore for tools and upgrades anyway. Not everything needs to be min maxed to have fun. Some people just like the routine of watering their crops.

Hit the nail on the head. I see this all the time at work with people who insist on using complicated software to track inventory when a simple notepad does the job just fine. Not everything needs a high end solution for a low stakes problem. Some folks just get stuck on optimizing the fun out of stuff.
