My floor lamp died mid movie night and a $3 yard sale find saved the cozy
Two Fridays ago my old floor lamp just quit on me right in the middle of a movie, and the room went from warm and golden to looking like a dentist's office. I tried a new bulb, then checked the switch, and after 3 tries I figured out the whole socket was shot. I grabbed this little brass lamp I got at a yard sale in Tulsa for $3, added a soft yellow bulb, and threw a thrifted knit blanket over the shade to cut the glare. Now the corner by my reading chair feels way warmer than the big lamp ever did, and honestly the low light hides how bad my baseboards look. Has anyone else swapped a big light for a bunch of small cheap ones, or am I just hooked on lamp glow now?
Bought a $2 salt lamp at a flea market last winter just to see what the fuss was about, and now it lives on my nightstand doing more work than my ceiling light ever did. Swapped out the overhead bulb for a 25 watt one too, so now getting up at 2am for water doesn't feel like walking into a hospital. My electric bill actually went down like 6 bucks that month, which is small but it made me feel like a genius. Cheap little lights just hit different when they're spread around instead of one big one blasting the whole room.
