Put a $12 dimmer switch in my rental bedroom and finally figured out why the room felt cold
I moved into a place near Dayton about 5 weeks ago and couldn't figure out why the bedroom felt like a waiting room even with a decent rug and two lamps. Last Saturday it hit me while I was lying in bed staring at the ceiling: the overhead light was a 5000K bulb the landlord left in, so the room was lit like a garage. I swapped in two 2700K bulbs and put a $12 dimmer switch on the lamp by the bed, and the place warmed up more than any throw blanket I could've bought. Same furniture, same paint, just softer light after 8pm. The dimmer is the part that matters most because I can knock the lamp down to near candle level for TV. Curious if anyone else has swapped bulbs first before buying anything else for a room.
Did you try the dimmer with the old 5000K bulb first, or did you swap bulbs and dimmer at the same time? Curious if the color was the real fix and the dimmer just made it easier to live with.
