Debate: Should you stick with a shelf layout or tear it down? My lamp disaster.
I was rearranging my bookshelf last month in my tiny apartment in Tacoma. Had a tall lamp on the top shelf that I really liked, but I wanted to center it better. I pulled a stack of books off to shift things, and the lamp wobbled, then tipped right into a cup of tea I had sitting on the side table. Tea went everywhere, soaked a paperback from the library. I ended up having to pull half the stuff off that shelf to dry it out, threw the whole balance off. Now I'm stuck wondering if I should've just left the lamp where it was or if it's worth the hassle to keep tweaking things. What do you do when a cozy setup goes sideways - restart from scratch or patch it back together?

Take emery_white's point about the lamp and tea being a bad combo and run with it. Honestly, that setup was asking for trouble, like putting a candle next to a curtain and hoping it works out. Sometimes you just gotta admit a layout is cursed and start fresh before you lose another book to a soggy grave.
