Finally changed my mind about e-readers after talking to a stranger at a coffee shop

I was at a little cafe in Portland last Saturday, sitting with my stack of paperbacks like always. A woman next to me had a Kobo and said she used to go through 2 books a month but now reads 5 because she can adjust the font size. She showed me how the warm light mode works, and I realized how much eye strain I've been ignoring with my tiny print. Next week I'm grabbing a used one off Facebook Marketplace to try it out. Has anyone else switched from physical books to digital and found their space actually feels cozier without the clutter?

The font size thing is what got me too. I was squinting at a mass market paperback on the bus and realized I was basically holding it six inches from my face. Got a cheap Kindle off Craigslist and my reading room went from stacks of books everywhere to just my nightstand with one device and a lamp. It feels less like a storage unit and more like a place to actually relax. My back thanks me for not hauling hardcovers around anymore.

My buddy Tom made the switch last year and he said the best part was being able to read in bed without twisting around to get the light right on the page. He used to keep a little book light clipped to his paperback that would die at the worst moments. Now he just taps the screen in the dark and keeps reading without waking up his wife.
