Friend said my bookshelf was too cluttered - made me rethink everything
She told me my shelves looked like a hoard, not a collection. So I pulled everything out, kept only 40 books I actually re-read, and grouped by color. Now it feels like a gallery instead of a storage unit. Anyone else get judged for their shelf style and change it up?

Kinda wild that the books you actually read are the ones that got sacrificed for looks, though. Grouping by color means you're basically shelving by spine, not content, so finding a specific book is now a game of memory. Not judging, it does look clean, but it's worth asking if the shelf is for you or for people who glance at it. Maybe keep a few favorites out where you can grab them without wrecking the whole color scheme.
