My reading corner went from a bare lamp and a dining chair to a full nook in 3 weekends
Three weekends ago my reading spot was just a wooden dining chair, a bare bulb lamp, and a stack of paperbacks on the floor. First I moved the chair to the corner by the window, then I added a $12 thrift store side table and a small rug I already had rolled up in the closet. The big change was a warm 2700K bulb and a plain throw blanket over the chair back, which somehow made the whole corner feel like a different room. Now I read there every night instead of on the couch, and my cat has claimed the rug as her own. Has anyone else had a tiny change make a spot actually feel cozy, or is it always the furniture that does it for you?
The lamp thing gets me every time. Swapping a harsh white bulb for a warm one is like flipping a switch in your brain, not just the room. I did the same in my little TV corner and suddenly I wanted to sit there instead of avoiding it. Funny how a $3 bulb can do more than a whole new chair. And the cat claiming the rug is just proof it works, they always know the good spots first.
