Public library ruined my whole reading corner vibe
Went to the downtown branch in Portland last weekend to grab some new reads and I swear they rearranged the whole layout. The cozy armchairs by the window are gone, replaced with those hard plastic stools and a giant self-checkout kiosk. I get that they want efficiency but the place feels like an airport terminal now, not a place to settle in. My home nook is the only spot I can actually relax anymore, and even that took me three months to get the lighting right. Has anyone else noticed their local library losing all the warm touches that made it worth visiting?

ngl I used to roll my eyes at people complaining about library updates, thought they were just being dramatic about change. But last week mine swapped the comfy couches for those same plastic stools and I literally stood there like “okay this actually sucks”. It's wild how much the little things matter, now I get why people fought to keep the cozy corners.
