The $60 paperwhite that ended up face down in my recycling bin
I bought a fancy backlit e-reader thinking it would make my corner chair feel more like a library. Turns out the glow just washed out my warm lamp light and made the whole nook feel like a waiting room. After three weeks of squinting at a screen that felt colder than my coffee, I gave it to my nephew and went back to real books. Now the shelf is full of dogeared paperbacks and my reading lamp does all the work. Anyone else ditch a gadget for the old school feel and never looked back?

Three weeks huh, thats about how long my kindle lasted too before I tossed it in a drawer. But heres what gets me, you gave it to your nephew, so does that mean you think the next generation actually needs that cold screen setup, or are you just passing on the curse? Cause my nieces got a tablet and she still picks up my old beat up copy of Dune over it every time. Maybe its less about the tech and more about what we grow up with, do you think kids will ever feel that library warmth from a glowing square?
