Can we talk about the swing radius sign I saw at the port in Savannah?
Visited the port there and noticed every crane pad had a painted swing radius line with the load chart limit stenciled right on the concrete. I always figured ground guys just eyeballed that stuff from the cab, but seeing it laid out like that made me rethink how I set up my barricades. Anybody else work sites that mark it out on the ground like that?
Wait, they stenciled the load chart limit right on the concrete? That blows my mind. I've been on plenty of sites where the swing radius is just a faded spray paint circle that half the crew walks right through. Having the actual numbers painted on the ground means there's no guessing at all. Ground guys eyeballing it from the cab sounds like a disaster waiting to happen when you actually see it laid out like that. That port setup is on a whole other level.
