Chose the old friction brakes over the fancy disc retrofit on a 200 tonner

Everyone at the yard in Tulsa kept pushing me to swap my friction brakes for that new disc system. I said no because I know these old friction brakes inside and out, and I can feel every load shift through the lever. Last month I had a 40,000 pound pipe section swinging in 15 mph gusts and I stopped it clean with zero drama. The guy next to me retrofitted his unit and spent 2 days chasing sensor codes. Has anyone else stuck with older gear just because you trust your hands over the tech?
