Just realized I was leveling the boom wrong for 8 years
I always trusted my bubble level on the main boom, but last week in Houston a spotter asked why my load was tilting on a 75 ton lift. Turns out I was only checking the bubble before the pick, not while under load, so the deflection was throwing everything off. Some older hand on site showed me to watch the hydraulic cylinder stroke difference instead, and it clicked instantly. Anyone else learn a basic trick that late in the game?

Check the boom angle at pick start and again when the load's off the ground, then trust your eyes over the bubble.
