My dad always told me to never trust a load chart from a rental company without checking it myself.
I finally listened after a 50-ton chart was off by 3% on a job in Cleveland last month, which would have put us over. Anyone else have a rule they ignored until it bit them?

Oh man, same here. I started double-checking all the rigging charts myself after a close call.

Yeah, that "close call" feeling is the worst. I've gotten so paranoid I basically redo the math from scratch now, @the_xena. It adds time but beats the alternative.

Actually, redoing from scratch can sometimes just repeat the same mistake. I find reading the chart backwards helps catch errors better.
