My kids thought my job was boring until they watched from the ground
Back then, they just saw a big machine. Now they ask real questions about how it all works.

On my street, the crane operator next door had the same thing happen. But kids get excited about ANYTHING new for a week. Once the novelty wears off, they're back to thinking it's boring. It's not like they're suddenly future engineers.

I see your point about novelty wearing off, but that short burst of excitement can mean more than you think. It's not about turning every kid into an engineer overnight. That moment of seeing something big and real in their own neighborhood can make a field like engineering feel possible. Curiosity often starts with just a quick look that grabs their attention. Dismissing it as just a passing phase might miss how these experiences shape their view of the world. Letting kids have that wonder, even briefly, is how we help them see what they might want to explore later.
