Old timer's feedback on my boom angle changed my whole approach

I've been running a Grove for about 4 years now, mostly residential work around Columbus. Last month an old guy who's been doing this since the 80s watched me set up for a roof truss lift and just shook his head. He said my boom angle was way too steep for the load radius and that I was putting unnecessary stress on the hoist. At first I wanted to brush it off, but he walked me through the math on the load chart and showed me where I was cutting it close. I adjusted my setup to a flatter angle and the lift went way smoother, less swinging, less strain on the cables. It made me realize I'd been defaulting to a habit instead of actually reading the chart fresh each time. Anyone else get feedback from a veteran that exposed a bad habit they didn't even know they had?
