Saw a mobile crane parked in a grocery store lot in Omaha with a 'Baby on Board' sign in the cab window.

I was grabbing milk last Tuesday and spotted a Link-Belt 70-tonner with that little yellow sign, which just seemed like the most wholesome and absurd thing for a piece of gear that can lift 140,000 pounds.

Oh my god, that is the BEST mental image. The operator is just a proud parent who happens to move buildings for a living.

My buddy Steve drives a dump truck for a city crew. He told me they had a new guy on a backhoe who taped his kid's crayon drawing right on the dashboard, said it made the long shifts better. It's that same kind of proud normalcy @theagibson mentioned. These big machines become part of someone's daily life, so why not bring a piece of home along. That crane operator probably looks at that sign and smiles before picking up a whole bridge section.

That's just a guy doing his job. The sign reminds him what he's working for. Simple as that.
