Still think quick-release shackles are overrated after nearly 15 years in the seat
A guy on my crew last month tried to sell me on swapping all my standard shackles for quick-release ones after he saw me fussing with a pin on a lift. I told him I've been running the same Crosby screw-pin shackles since 2011 and they've never cost me a job. Yeah, it takes me maybe 30 extra seconds to unthread one, but I've never had a quick-release fail or pop open on a load swing. Has anyone else stuck with old-style shackles past the hype or am I just being stubborn?

Same reason I still use a manual tire gauge instead of those digital ones that always die on me. Newer ain't always better when the old way just works.

My dad still has the same Craftsman socket set he bought in 1982. Never skipped a beat, while my buddy's digital torque wrench bricked itself after one software update. There's just something about stuff that doesn't need a battery to work.
