Switched from a basic headset to a noise-canceling one for my tower cab and wow.

I was using a cheap pair for years, but after a 10-hour shift placing steel in downtown Phoenix, my ears would ring. My foreman loaned me his Bose A20 for a day and the difference was crazy, I could actually hear the signal person clearly over the site noise. Anyone have a good, tough alternative that won't break the bank?

My cheap headphones just make the voices in my head louder, so maybe an upgrade is due.

Oh man, @leo_fisher, I feel that. My old pair made everything sound tinny and sharp, like people were yelling through a busted radio. Upgrading was a game changer, music finally had some bass and podcasts didn't sound like they were recorded in a tin can. What kind of headphones are you looking at?

Had the same ringing ears after long days on a job site. Tried a friend's high-end set and it was a total wake-up call. I ended up finding a used pair of David Clark headsets online for a good price. They're built like tanks and the noise reduction is solid without being fancy. The clarity for hearing your crew makes the whole day less stressful. It's worth hunting for a rugged brand that's been around a while.
