That conversation about load charts hit me harder than I expected
Last week a retired operator named Dale talked to me at the fuel station near the Port of Tacoma. He said he never trusts the load chart until he's done the math himself twice, once with the boom angle and once with the radius. I always just glance at the chart and move on, but he pointed out that a half-degree error at 150 feet can shift your rated capacity by nearly 2 tons. It hit different because I realized I've been relying on muscle memory instead of checking my work on every pick. Anyone else have an older hand say something simple that totally changed how you run your rig?

Honestly I've been running off vibes and a glance for years, so Dale would probably smack me with his clipboard. Half a degree turning into 2 tons is wild though, guess I'm doing math now instead of trusting my gut.
